Yesterday was another jam packed day. We went to the golf tournament, which was not crowded at all and the weather was nearly perfect. We stayed until the end, around 6PM. We easily walked 18 holes ourselves. I think all our legs ached after all the walking we did yesterday but the weather was pretty cool and it was just nice to be outside and moving around all day!
Lunch
They do not allow cell phone or cameras and make you pass through metal detectors to check you for them. Needless to say, I don’t have any photos of our food while we were there. Don’t worry, you are missing out on absolutely nothing! The food was AWFUL and overpriced. I ended up having a plain turkey and cheese sandwich on a worthless white Kaiser roll. The turkey was just normal deli meat and the cheese was a piece of American cheese. I took over half the cheese off and then put some mustard, horseradish and mayo on it. None of that saved it. But beggars can’t be chooser when you are that starving.
I had about 2.5 Michelob Ultra, split a Kasha Roll (crunchy peanut) between Justin, mom and I, and had about ¼ of a lemon chill.
Overall, a very good afternoon.
Dinner
We decided to eat out (we were all starving after the shoddy lunch and just wanted to go directly to dinner). We went to this great Mexican place in Arlington, El Paso Café. I ate about ¼ of my body weight in chips, which actually ended up being a good thing.
I ordered the Southwestern Chile Relleno. I am the type of person who never orders anything new and different at a restaurant. I find something I love and trust and stick to it. The veggie fajitas are that at El Paso, but I talked myself into going out on a limb and ordered the relleno. Mom and Justin ordered their food and we each had a drink. I had sangria.
Then mom and Justin get their food and I get nothing. After a few minutes, our waiter comes over and tells us that they are out of what I ordered. He didn’t tell me this when I ordered, no he waited until the rest of the table already had their food. Honestly, how can this happen? I have waited tables a lot, and I understand not putting in an order or the kitchen forgetting but being out of a complete meal and no knowing right away to tell the customer was a bit surprising. And the fact he basically was just like ‘oh well, I guess no dinner for you’ and walked away without taking a new order. It was so absurd that it was actually funny to all of us. I did ask for the manager (who I thought would give us my meal for free) but instead he gave us a round of drinks. I don’t think any of us really wanted any more to drink, but I wasn’t turning down free booze (see Thursday’s post). I asked for a menu and ordered old trusty: Veggie Fajitas.
By the time they came out, my stomach figured out it was full from the chips. I had one corn tortilla filled with veggies and just picked at some of the veggies. I probably packed up 75% of my food and brought it home.
We watched a movie last night when we got home and I had one of these.
Workout
This morning I went walking/jogging again. Luckily I didn’t get lost! I went for 45 minutes and boy was it humid. My knee is still so funky. I just hate how weak it feels and the hyperextending. I have this hedious limp when I run. I know I am slowly causing problems with my hips.
Breakfast
Last night before bed I made Overnight Oats and they hit the spot. ½ cup of oats, ½ cup of soy milk soaked over night. This morning I mixed in 1 banana, 1T of flax seed, cinnamon and 2T of fage yogurt. Totally hit the spot with all that creamy goodness.
I still feel a little munchy. I think I may try and wait until after I shower and see if I am still hungry. I really need to motivate to the grocery store. We are running low on fresh produce.
Mom wants to go shopping in Georgetown today and tonight we have tickets to the Lion King. I cannot wait.
Here is where we are eating dinner tonight: Chef Geoff’s. None of us have eaten there before.
And it is looking like another day of walking….a lot.
