Snooze Time

I am exhausted.  There is no better way to put it, so this post will be short.  All I really want to do is put on my pjs and go to sleep with the windows open and the fan blowing on me.

My stomach was iffy all afternoon.  I did eat the tapioca and then I had my afternoon snack right before I left work because I knew I wouldn’t eat dinner until much later.  Afternoon snack was 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with dried fruit and a few pieces of frosted mini wheats.

Then I met up with my friend Gavin for drinks.  I hadn’t seen him in almost a year, so I was really excited to spend time with him.  We went to this lating place that has good happy hour specials, Caribbean Breeze.  I had two beers and then a water and we kept talking….and I decided to have another beer.  They were Shock Top beers, which were a Belgian style beer.  I just looked them up and found out they were made by Anheuser-Busch…uhhh, not really what I would call a tasty import.  Sorry, no photos, I just didn’t feel like explaining the blog.

Then Justin and I headed to the grocery store and Target because, well, I need liquid egg white substititue and we needed things from Target for the yard sale on Saturday.  I got STARVING while doing this and I had the follow, a 100 calorie back of cheez-its that Justin had (they were shamefully good)

and then leaving Harris Teeter, I had a sugar cookie

Finally we got home and I need to eat something else, but I wasn’t too hungry.  I really wanted to just make a bowl of oats but I knew I really didn’t want the same thing from breakfast for dinner, so I mixed some fage with cereal (Kashi Go Lean Crunch, Swiss Museli and some state Wild Animal Crunch)

I put a drizzle of honey on top

Then I had a banana with about 1T of natural peanut butter smeared on it.

Don’t know how healthy of a day it was for me, but…..oh well.

And now time for me to finish watching the Tour from earlier today and get some ZZZZZ’s.  Have a fabulous night!

eggs and bread

I was hungry all morning.  Not a bored, I want to snack hunger, but an honest I feel weak and not well fueled hunger.  So I did the unthinkable (at least for me), I ate the other half of my Kashi Roll Bar from yesterday.  Note to self: Do not store these in the fridge with the rest of your lunch unless you want to snap your teeth in half when you bite into it.  You may be asking yourself, why in the world is it a big deal that she ate the other half of a kashi roll bar?  Well that is because I used to be a psycho controlled eater.  I planned out everything.  What time I would eat, how much I would eat, etc.  I feared if I didn’t do these things then I would gain weight.  I am slowly learning this isn’t the case.  If my body tells me that it is hungry, then well….feed it!!!  Feed it healthy, natural things, but feed it!  How can I expect to go to the gym over lunch and have an effective cardio session if I have an empty tank?  Sheesh, to think I used to treat my 1994 with 245,000 miles Toyota Camry that may be worth $1500 with more respect that I treated my own body when it came to fuel is simply sad.  Yes, there are times where my brain still takes over and feels guilty when I do eat unplanned things, but I am learning to tell that part of my brain to shove it!

Sorry about the crappy photo.  I didn’t use my flash so not to draw attention to myself taking photos of my food.

Workout
I headed to the gym over lunch still feeling blah.  My knee has been acting up lately and just feeling sore and swollen.  I decided I should ride the bike so to give my knee a break.  After riding the bike for one hour a day for months on end for physical therapy, I have grown to hate the stationary bike, so I only made it 20 minutes.  I switched over to the stairmaster, but my knee started acting up, so after 10 minutes, I switched back to the bike for the final 10 minutes.  I should ice and stretch tonight.  I am planning on taking Saturday off from the gym, so hopefully the knee can make it through at least 2 more workouts.  I go back to the doctor next Tuesday, so hopefully he’ll be able to tell me what I need to do to get through this.

Lunch
Got back and had such a tasty lunch.  I started with chopped up veggies (celery, carrots, cucumber and broccoli) dipped in about 1.5T of hummus.  The carrots were the best part.  I ate them without hummus because they were so sweet and delicious on their own.

Then I moved onto my ever so tasty sandwich.  2 slices of 100% whole wheat bread with a smear of reduced fat olive oil mayo on both slices, an egg white (with a little bit of yolk), sliced tomato and arugula.  It was FABULOUS!  I will be eating this more often.  Perfect combo of fiber, protein and a little healthy fat.

I also brought a Kozy Shack no-sugar added tapioca pudding but my stomach has suddenly started cramping up, so I am going to hold off on that until the stomach feels a little more at ease.  I have no idea why it is acting up, I don’t think I ate anything to cause this.

Back to the mundane.

Happy Happy Humpday

This week is going pretty quickly.  I am loving it!!  What I am not loving is the DC humidity.  This morning, when I went to get dressed, I felt like I had just stepped out of the shower without toweling off.  And putting on makeup was also a disaster.  I finally made myself presentable and was heading out of the house, only to find out it had started raining.  Sheesh!!!  I think my hair just wanted to be pulled into a ponytail today!

Got some chores done around the house last night.  Justin and I are having a yard sale on Saturday morning to try and sell some of the stuff we don’t want to move to the new house.  Neither of us have ever done a yard sale, so we will see how this goes.  We also did 10 minute abs afterwards.  We have been bad about doing abs lately and both decided we need to do at least 10 minutes worth of abs three times a week.  I love doing abs on http://www.exercisetv.tv or on On Demand through my cable.  I like all the different choices they have (Jackie Warner is definitely the best!) and they keep me challenged.

Afterwards, I decided to have a little evening snack.  Fage yogurt with 1/2T of natural peanut butter, 2 tsp of clove honey (it was a honey night for me!), some Annie’s chocolate chip bunnies and some chocolate chips.

I am a bit sore this morning (especially my shoulders) after my workout yesterday.  That  is the best feeling ever.  When you wake up and you can tell how tight and worked your muscles are.  I like knowing I didn’t waste my time in the gym!

Breakfast
It was about the same as yesterday.  Oats, peaches, 2 egg whites, flax seed, museli and a splash of milk.  I did add in some raisins this morning, but I really don’t think it needed them.

Before stirring (this is after the oats were cooked though)

All stirred up:

Today should be a normal (and hopefully speedy) day at work.  I am planning on meeting up with my friend Gavin for drinks after work.  Gavin is out at UCSD getting his master’s in engineering, so I never get to see him, so I am thrilled to get a chance to catch up while he is back East.

AM Snack
Same as the past few days–cherries and kefir.  These are the last of the cherries, so I guess I will need to figure out something new for the rest of the week.

Have a great Wednesday morning!

And this is the exact reason why I won’t get on one of the pilates reformers without taking proper training:

Summary

About Me: 28-year old, fairly newlywed (Spring 2007) that lives in Northern VA. Work full time, love my job, have an unfortunately long daily commute.

While an obsessive long distance runner, I am still trying to recover from 2 major knee surgeries. Atleast I am able to (semi) run again.

In the past, I definitely have not always fed my body correctly to support all the running I did. Simply put, my aim was to be the smallest weight/size possible. Now, my aim is to eat healthy, well rounded and simply to enjoy as much of life without worry about the calorie content and what the tenth of a pound the scale is showing me.
