Okay, there is no saying it any other way…..I am obsessed with the Olympics. I always have been. I simply adore sports. And watching 16 days of the top athletes in the world compete…simply heaven. Some people lose productivity during March Madness. During the Tour de France and the Olympics, I lose mine. Oh yeah…and college football season. But I digress…. Anyway, I almost think it is a bad thing that the Olympics are only every 2 years. That really builds up a lot of longing and excitement in me. Especially the summer games. The Olympic games are cool….but a bit more extreme. The summer games seem so simple, elegant and bad-ass. Seeing I swam competitively for 15 years of my life, then took up competitive running, then decided to go for the trifecta–triathlons, there is no wonder I love the summer games.

So here is a quick introduction to the games because the opening ceremonies are tonight.
We all know about Michael Phelps. He is a god amongst men. It is true. He has broken 24 world records. He has broken his own 200m butterfly record five times. Six gold medals at Athens….now talk of 8 medals at Beijing. I really don’t know what else to say but this man is an animal.
There are also many different conversations about Dara Torres. I love her. I think she is amazing and inspirational. Any woman who is in her 40’s and birthed a child and still comes back and beats a bunch of 20 year olds and sets a world record is simply incredible. I love her body–sleek and powerful. Just the fact she is setting a record for the number of Olympics she has participated in is great, but I am hoping for a medal.
Triathlon–Hunter Kemper–I simply love to watch this guy compete
Sprinter–Jeremy Wariner. In the 400 meters.
Hurdles (400m)–Queen Harrison. Simply because she is a Hokie and I love her name.
Cycling—Levi!!!! So excited to see Levi ride. We missed him this year in the Tour!
Okay, so that was just a little take on the Olympics. I am sad that I am missing opening ceremonies. But I am sure I will more than make up for it in the weeks to come. Be warned: I may mention the Olympics a bit obsessively on the blog for awhile.
