Short & Sweet

It is 9PM and I want to be in bed ASAP and I have some Olympic watching to do.  Aim—blog, wash face, get in bed…all by 9:20.  We will see if this happens.  Another aim–not to eat ANYMORE granola.  I can’t wait to have that box out of my house.  I will never ever ever by that sinfully good all natural Quaker granola ever again (unless it is on sale.)

Workout
Today I went to the gym over lunch and did the elliptical.  I did forward/back intervals.  5 minutes forward, 2 1/2 minutes backwards at a level 6.0.  I got a decent sweat going.

I had physical therapy tonight and there is a chance they figured out why I am not getting better!!!  I did all my strength training exercises and then my doc let my get on the treadmill to run.  He started me slowly and I was doing fine and then we got over 5.0 and I started getting that TERRIBLE limp.  He made me stop and asked why in the world was I running like that.  I said that I couldn’t help it, that it wasn’t mental.  I can run fine at slower speeds and I can run fine going down hill.  Just when I go faster or up hill, I cannot run without limping.  He then asked if I had had any other injuries with that leg.  I said not really except I had 2 incidents of bursitis and a slightly torn hamstring on that leg.  All three requiring physical therapy.  He then measured my hips and apparently my right hip is aligned differently from my left hip, which is make me over-pronate (hence the hamstring/bursitis injuries).  On Wednesday they are giving me a lift and hopefully that will work.  If it does, I only have to go to therapy once a week for a few weeks and then I can go get fitted for a custom made lift.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is the final hurdle that I have to get over!

When I got home from PT, I had a bit of a peach Justin was eating and about 15 grape tomatoes when I was making dinner.

Dinner
We had one of Justin’s favorite meals–Chicken Chipotle Salad.  Romaine lettuce, black beans, corn, onions, grape tomatoes, avocado and baked chicken breast.  Dressing–reduced fat sour cream, lots of cilantro, cumin, chili powder, lime juice.

The whole thing:

Had a glass of that opened bottle of wine:

And here is one of my 2.5 small wooden bowls of salad with dressing.  (That looks A LOT bigger than it really is)

I put two chipotle peppers into the dressing and this was about 1 pepper too many.  This was FIRE FIRE FIRE hot.  I put some shredded mozzarella on top after this photo was taken and I had a slice of whole wheat bread to try and cut out some of the heat.

And then after dinner I was craving something sweet (even though I was really hungry).  So I had some fresh cut up fruit with a little granola on top (and maybe I snuck a handful of granola out of the bag.) and a small glass of light soy milk.

Okay–it is only 9:16.  4 minutes for teeth, face and contact removal.  Then under the covers I go!

Ugh, and I feel too full and quite fat.  UGH.

Unspectacular Quirks

I got tagged by Meals from the Girl in the Little Black Dress and Fitnessita to list quirks about myself while I was on vacation.  Sorry if I retagged any people, I am still catching up on my blog reading!!

Here are the rules:

1. Link back to the person that tagged you.
2. Mention the rules on your blog.
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
4. Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them.
5. Leave a comment for each tagged blogger, to let them know they have been tagged.

6 unspectacular quirks:

1. I can skip brushing my teeth and washing my face at night, but I simply will not sleep in my contacts

2. I am terrified of Shar-Pei’s due to an unfortunate mauling bite as a child

3. I like to put ketchup on nearly everything.

4. Every time I go to my mother’s house, I have to always check the candy dish, despite it being empty for YEARS.

5. I have possibly an unhealthy obsession with my sports teams (Virginia Tech, Yankees, Garmin-Chiptole, etc.) and am willing to skip doing work to read about them.

6. I tend to crack my fingers, back, neck, etc. all the time

And now my tags:

Carrots & Cake
Chandra’s Shenanigans
Diary of a Smart Blonde
Eating Bender
Fighting with the Scale
I Don’t Believe in Diets

And now I am off to physical therapy.  I made a dent in my catching up at work but there is definitely more to do!!!

This is a tough Monday Morning

When you haven’t woken up before 8:30AM in the past 9 days, getting up at 6:30AM is VERY VERY tough.  I have a headache this morning and I think it is simply due to lack of sleep.  I slept okay last night except for some very bizarre dreams.  Anyway, just need to push through today and get another good night’s sleep tonight and hopefully tomorrow I’ll be a bit more on track.

Food today is fairly boring.  I am still trying to get my stomach back to normal also.

Breakfast
For some reason I really wasn’t feeling warm oats, which is odd because it was chilly for August this morning and I haven’t had warm oats in almost 10 days!!  Instead, I had dried oats, some granola and some Golden Grahams in a bowl with a bit of light soy milk and 1T of flax seed.  I had some fresh cut up fruit on the side.

AM Snack
To keep things really boring, I am having more cut up fruit for my morning snack.

Lunch
I really wanted to bake up some chicken (attempting to recreate D.R. Chicken) yesterday but I simply ran out of time.  I figured I should take some of the leftover gazpacho and I discovered some cans of tuna fish in the cabinets, so I thought I would try these things.

Tuna fish with reduced fat mayo, some dijon mustard, chopped up celery, salt and pepper.  I brought along 2 wasa crackers to eat it with.

Then the leftover gazpacho

and a little side salad (I have some Green Goddess dressing to put on top that I have REALLY been missing!!)

I also brought my fat free pudding snack–we will see if I am still hungry to eat that.

PM Snack
Just some homemade trail mix.  Edamame, granola, raisins, mixed nuts and Golden Grahams

(I am already sort of excited for this!)

I am planning on hitting up the gym for some cardio during lunch.  Ready to start my lunch time gym sessions again!!  Then I have physical therapy (DREAD!) after work today.

Hope everyone is feeling a bit better than I am this Monday morning!!!

Summary

About Me: 28-year old, fairly newlywed (Spring 2007) that lives in Northern VA. Work full time, love my job, have an unfortunately long daily commute.

While an obsessive long distance runner, I am still trying to recover from 2 major knee surgeries. Atleast I am able to (semi) run again.

In the past, I definitely have not always fed my body correctly to support all the running I did. Simply put, my aim was to be the smallest weight/size possible. Now, my aim is to eat healthy, well rounded and simply to enjoy as much of life without worry about the calorie content and what the tenth of a pound the scale is showing me.
