First thing that crossed my mind when I woke up this morning was “I get to sleep in tomorrow!”, then the second thing was “I have to go get on the scale now”, then “We have reservations at Olives tonight”, then “I have to go get on the scale now”. What a buzzkill!
I knew I had gained weight on my vacation. Today the scale showed the actual damage. 3 lbs. How could I have gained 3lbs in 1 week??! Oh yes, all those cervezas and piña coladas! I got really upset at first. How could I weigh 139.4lbs. That seems like a lot to me. Then I had a nice in-depth conversation with myself that consisted of these points:
- Did you have fun on vacation? If you went back tomorrow, would you change anything you did?
- Yes
- Probably not
- Did you get back to normal eating and your gym routine right when you got back?
- Yes
- Are you eating healthy?
- Yes
So I sort of calmed down after this. I decided I cannot let that number determine my attitude today. It is just a number. And yes, I do want it lower, but I already am working towards that. I am eating healthy and working out hard, so the pounds will come back off. (It just always seems like I finally get down to a weight I am happy with and then I head off on vacation or the holidays or something and then it is gone and I am back working them off.) Oh yes, and I have started counting calories again…..
Breakfast
Had the oats again, but I did mix it up a little bit. I had 1/2 cup of dry oats with 3/4 cup of water, 1/4 cup of egg beaters, 1/2T of cinnamon. I cooked for 2:30 at 80%. Then I added 1T of flax seed, a splash of soy milk and half a banana.
I do love me some banana. I think some honey or shredded coconut would also have been good in this. It almost needed a teeny bit more sweetness.
AM Snack
I always wake up before Justin and shower and pack my lunch, etc. This morning when I was packing my lunch I grabbed the last orange and just hoped that Justin hadn’t eaten his fruit from yesterday. Then I threw together my AM Snack which was sliced up fruit.
and a Wasa cracker
When Justin went to make his lunch later on, he commented how bummed he was that we were out of fruit (nectarines and oranges. I offered him some banana which he hates). Then he said…well, I will have some cantaloupe instead. Well, I had already packed all of that up too. I sat there in silence and didn’t fess up to any of this. Well I know Justin reads my blog (*waves at her husband*) and I knew I would get caught. Sorry babe for stealing the rest of all the good food!!!
Lunch
I had to use up the rest of my bread and unfortunately I only had 1 full slice left so the other slice is the ’skullkin’. Which I hate…but I am no longer 8 and don’t cut my crust off either, so I figured I could suck this up too.
80 cals worth of baked chicken breast, 1/2T of mayo, lettuce, tomato and some basil.
Put together and sliced.
I threw in an orange and my jello sugar-free rice pudding.
PM Snack
This is one thing I know the husband wouldn’t want–dried edamame. I measured out 100 calories worth and put it into a container to snack on this afternoon.
Like always, I am planning on going to the gym over lunch to do some cardio. I am quite sore from yesterday’s lifting!!! My quads are tight and the middle of my lower back feels like it is tied into a million knots. I probably should take a little time to stretch!
It’s Friday and too bad it’s not 5 o’clock already!!!
