Did I actually have a weekend?

Big Sigh.  At least I have been beyond productive, but I really haven’t had a relaxing weekend at all.  I didn’t get to enjoy the wonderful weather except to look at it lonely through the windows of our office.  Today was much like yesterday, but actually, busier.  I am now working to get this post out and then hit the sack.  I know I should pack my food for tomorrow or fold the laundry, but it just isn’t happening.  I have hit my wall.

Yesterday I worked on the thesis until about 3, then headed over to the gym for some much needed cardio.  I ended up doing the elliptical for 40-45 minutes while listening to This American Life.  I adore that show, so it made the time fly by.  When I got home, I had a quick snack before jumping into the shower.  A container of Wegmans yogurt with some dried fruit and crushed up nuts mixed in.

We had dinner last night at my in-laws.  This consisted of one orange vodka martini, two small glasses of wine, and a wonderful meal of red snapper, sweet potatoes, grilled veggies, fruit salad and bread.  Afterwards Justin’s parents and I played Hearts for at least 2 hours.  I ate a few oreos (and maybe had a beer) while we played.  It was a great evening.  We didn’t leave there until midnight!!!  I hadn’t spent time with them lately, so it was great getting to spend almost 7 hours just catching up.

I woke up this morning around 8:30 and headed downstairs to the dreaded thesis.  Edits went well yesterday, but I was only on page like 13-38, so I had a lot of work to do today.  I started with a cup of tea and around 9:45 had a small cup of Wegmans instant oatmeal mixed with some dried fruit, raisins, 1t of brown sugar and some fresh ground cinnamon on top.  All consumed in front of the computer.

Then more work.

Around 2, Justin asked if I was hungry for lunch, which I said I was and he headed out to get us food.  I had never eaten at Moby Dick’s Kabob house, but he brought me back a grilled chicken sandwich on naan.  This thing was HUGE!

He got the cucumber dressing on the side (smart hubbie!) and the inside was a lot of lettuce, a bit of tomato, some onion, chicken and a bit of feta.

The softness and flavor of the naan was definitely the most attractive part of this lunch.  And shamefully enough, I ate almost all of it.

I finally finished editing the thesis around 3:30 and went to print it out to get another read-thru…and only discovered both our printers are out of ink….even colored ink.  So I emailed it to FedEx Kinkos to get them to print it out…Kind of a waste of $4, but what can I say, I was too tired to deal with buying a new ink cartridge.  I was a bit fed up with looking at a computer screen at this point, so I thought yoga was definitely necessary.  I did a 90 minute class by Yoga Today and it was great!!  A whole lot of hip opening sequences.  I felt rejuvenated afterwards.  Enough to face the task of running errands….at least I got to spend time in my car with the windows down enjoying the weather.

I first went to FedEx to pick up my case study and then went to Target to pick up all my prescriptions from last week.  I SPENT $133 in prescriptions.  I wanted to kick something I was so annoyed.  This stuff better heal my stomach and cure my Crohn’s at that cost!!!  I can admit that I am feeling a lot better since last week and most of my crazy symptoms have gone away, so I guess this stuff is working.

Then I headed over to Wegmans which took a shamefully long time, which I think was because I was losing my ability to focus and just felt like I was wandering around a bit aimlessly.  I finally got home around 7:30….I was hungry and exhausted and still had thesis work in front of me.  Because my lunch was so HUGE, I wasn’t really feeling much for dinner, so I went for almost a breakfast dinner.

1 small container of 2% Fage (which I have only had the 0% and I think the taste of the 2% was SO much better!) with 1 banana sliced on top, half a serving of Cracklin’ Oat Bran on top and a drizzle of honey.

dinner8

After I stirred it all up, it sort of looked like I was eating vanilla frosting for dinner….which is okay with me!  This hit the spot because it is 10:10 and I feel completely full still.

After dinner, I drew a bath in the Jacuzzi and poured in the bath oil that I bought at Target and proceeded to edit for the next hour or so.  I was nice and wrinkly, but I got through editing the whole thing.  Now I just need to put those written edits into the actual file, write a conclusion for my ENTIRE thesis, and submit the whole thing to my entire committee and tell them I am ready to defend.  I am so close I can almost taste it.  I have never worked this hard for anything in my whole life and it is really relieving kind of seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.  I am going to need to find a hobby or something to deal with all the extra time that I will suddenly have!

I hope you all had a great weekend, hopefully much more relaxing and enjoyable than mine!  See you all in the morning–blah, monday.

Summary

About Me: 28-year old, fairly newlywed (Spring 2007) that lives in Northern VA. Work full time, love my job, have an unfortunately long daily commute.

While an obsessive long distance runner, I am still trying to recover from 2 major knee surgeries. Atleast I am able to (semi) run again.

In the past, I definitely have not always fed my body correctly to support all the running I did. Simply put, my aim was to be the smallest weight/size possible. Now, my aim is to eat healthy, well rounded and simply to enjoy as much of life without worry about the calorie content and what the tenth of a pound the scale is showing me.
