Taking a little break

I’ve been working on my thesis presentation all morning.  It has been slow going…I just have moments where I think it is awful.  That is doesn’t flow, that I’m not presenting much of anything and not supporting anything….that it just isn’t as concise and concrete as I would like it to be.  I know it is just fear and doubt but it does have moments of taking over.  I can already tell that the next 7+ days are going to be difficult….very stressful.  I just need to get to the point where I am ready…stay focus and work hard.  I can do this.

I am going to try and read through my presentation one more time and then head over to the gym.  I really wanted to workout outside today but it is just WAY TOO windy to get a run or ride in…maybe tomorrow.  I did go for a walk this morning before Justin was up.  It was sunny, but windy, but got nice to get out and move around and get some fresh air before sitting down with the thesis.

Last night, we went out to dinner at Ted’s.  So yummy and I love that this place is so focused on the environment.  It is owned by Ted Turner.  It is 99% plastic free, everything is on 100% recycled paper, bio-degradable in 50-days, low voltage lighting, etc.  The restaurant is focused on being as green as possible.

I had the Ultimate Skinny Dip bison burger.  A bison patty with lettuce, tomato and onion on the side. no bun.  It also came with cottage cheese, which I was too full to eat.  I got a side of grilled onions and mushrooms.  So good.

(sorry, started eating before taking a picture…they are Blackberry photos)

I had a couple bites of Justin’s burger (with cheese and a bun) and it was simply amazing! As were the few fries that I stole!

When I got home, I snacked on way too many jelly beans and had another beer.  The jelly beans were a bad idea and put them way over the calorie count I was aiming for.

(there were multiple handfuls like this)

Calorie Total for Friday: 1960 cals.

I was in bed by 10:30 last night.  Poor Justin with his overly stressed out wife who wants to collapse and be asleep like a grandparent. :)

Today, did my walk and then had breakfast.

1 piece of multi-grain bread with a serving of egg beaters and some polaner sugar-free jelly.

I had a snack around 11 while working on the thesis.  A dannon vanilla light and fit with about 1/3 cup of Weggies Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

And finally my lunch–the Green Monster.

Lavish bread with 1T of hummus and 1T of baba ghanouj.  I added some cucumber slices, some romaine lettuce and some avocado slices.  FInally topped witha bout 1ounce of turkey for protein.

Calories so far for today: 530

I am going to head to the gym shortly and do some cardio.  I need to stop at Wegman’s on the way home and get the stuff to make a big salad to take with us to the cookout we are going to at Scott’s tonight.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Summary

About Me: 28-year old, fairly newlywed (Spring 2007) that lives in Northern VA. Work full time, love my job, have an unfortunately long daily commute.

While an obsessive long distance runner, I am still trying to recover from 2 major knee surgeries. Atleast I am able to (semi) run again.

In the past, I definitely have not always fed my body correctly to support all the running I did. Simply put, my aim was to be the smallest weight/size possible. Now, my aim is to eat healthy, well rounded and simply to enjoy as much of life without worry about the calorie content and what the tenth of a pound the scale is showing me.
